Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
I don't know about the Balkan, but it sure is interesting. 10% is significant, especially coming from 23andme, which is considered as the most reliable among the "big" DNA test companies. If those 10% had come from MyHeritage, I'd have told you right away to discard it (they give me around 30% Balkan, which is nonsense). I hope your 23andme DNA matches provide a clue regarding some (distant?) Balkan ancestry.
I guess it's possible that you might have distant Jewish admixture coming from ex-Jewish ancestors who converted to Protestantism in France.
I'm in France, and of French (50%) and South Italian (50%) descent.

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
Sorry, I was not clear, my Gedmatch info comes from transferring in my 23andMe, my "Balkan" 10 percent was on MyHeritage. I think 23andme had me at pretty much all Celtic and French/Nordic.

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
No, *I* am sorry - I read your posts too quickly. In that case, any Balkan coming from MH - for someone who has no known Balkan ancestry - doesn't mean a thing. MH is know for being very unreliable in terms of ancestry composition.

People will do what they will do. Personally, I disregard it. MH is only interesting for the matches (esp. if you're French).

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
Does anyone know why the Eurogenes JTest creator has not revised or removed the JTest from Gedmatch? He was on record several years back as saying that it was not reliable, although I did not see the specifics behind his conclusion.

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
On this calculator, full Ashkenazi usually get around 30%, so your results are consistent with your origins.jm17 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:02 pmCan someone please help me explain my results?

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
Ah okay I see thanks - does that mean I still have around 20% East Med for example or is that part of the Ashkenazi origins/just an error?Aoda wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:35 pmOn this calculator, full Ashkenazi usually get around 30%, so your results are consistent with your origins.jm17 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:02 pmCan someone please help me explain my results?

Re: Eurogenes Jtest calculator
Ashkenazi do get significant percentages of East Med, so that's consistent too.jm17 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 7:41 pmAh okay I see thanks - does that mean I still have around 20% East Med for example or is that part of the Ashkenazi origins/just an error?Aoda wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 5:35 pmOn this calculator, full Ashkenazi usually get around 30%, so your results are consistent with your origins.jm17 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 4:02 pmCan someone please help me explain my results?
