After we have added the African test we will also add a Native American calculator. There are 2,580 SNPs that would indicate recent and less recent Amerindian ancestry.

Using my genome file I received one positive result, (23andme) and another positive result (using AncestryDNA) this is interesting as I used to receive 0.1% Native American at 23andme and show small traces using other methodology, these are specific to Native Americans.

I will post here when the test is live on the site and ready to use.

Gemma - 23andme file

Recent Amerindian SNPs
Target AMER SNPs: 999
Found AMER SNPs: 14
Number of AMER alleles: 0
AMER score: 0.0

Slightly less Recent Amerindian SNPs
SNPsTarget AMESLR SNPs: 1581
Found AMESLR SNPs: 34
Number of AMESLR alleles: 1
AMESLR score: 0.0294117647059

Hello Sulis,
just read your Post about the Native American SNP Test by Dilaware.
I´m very interested in this test, my Ancestry DNA shows a proportion of 9% Native American, my dad gots 18%.
We are from Germany and very confused about this first, then we checked the results on several other DNA Portals like Gedmatch.Genesis, myHeritage and YourDNAPortal, it stays the same.
So we are now searching the birth father of my dad, we found out that he came from New Mexico to Germany in WW2, but thats all. Some close matches, maybe a great-grandfather, but still a lot of work.
Maybe this SNP Test will help to locate the ancestors? Where can I find it when it is online?
Thank you for your post,
best wishes

So, when you show a half copy mutation that does prove you have that ancestry?

Yes, because we have 2 homologous chromosomes, 1 from each parent. This means One of your parents carried the SNP.

I have 4 alleles but 2 copies of one of them. Which is a bit surprising. I am mostly NW European but I do score Native American on some tests. Not sure what this means. But very interesting thank you.

These are my brothers results- we are English, Scottish and a bit of Irish in that order of relevance, but with a Canadian paternal grandfather (so the NA could be real) my brother has a more recent 23andme file with different coverage/ SNPs to me (I get two). What is interesting for me is that he gets two copy’s on two SNPs (homozygous) which correlates with the fact my English mothers sister has a tiny

NA score at 23andme- seems like there is a possibility the English side of the family are also connected to the New World..
That possibility is not totally unexpected as we have some distant US early links in the tree on that side too.

My father even though English, (the one with known North American ancestry from at least 1750 in Canada and before that the US- revolutionary war etc) and I had a 0.1% NA score at 23andme in the same location until the recent update.

This is another possibility -
