Coronavirus DNA Health Report - Personal Risk Analysis – Sequencing.com

I received a partial DNA trait report from Sequencing.com this week for my susceptibility to Covid-19 virus. As I do not have a monthly membership, only a few individually purchased apps, the test reported a susceptibility, not severity, analysis based on about 16 genes. How did I fare?

Health status risk - No current health issues: Lower
Age risk -15-59: Lower
Genetic Severity: * Requires membership

Well, so far so good as I live near a global virus hot spot but had a normal body temperature this morning. Has anyone received the full results based upon either membership or whole sequencing? Commercial test kits such as 23andMe contain only a fraction (0.1) of the genes available from whole sequencing.

* Note that the severity-level analysis requires a paid membership. I received email notification of the susceptibility trait results due to having an account for purchasing several DNA apps individually.

I discovered that this portal includes a Covid-19 genetic susceptibility reading in the Health section. Of 7 call results, 4 showed increased risk & 3 showed decrease risk. 3 SNPS were no call. Therefore, either those 3 no-calls tipped the results, or there is a discrepancy with my other genetic test company results which predicted a slight decrease in risk.

A few updates to my Coronavirus experience:

- I am participating in several DNA company CV-19 studies including Genomelink.com and Helix.com which administer weekly activity and symptom surveys. I discontinued participating in 23andMe due to recent politicizing position of CEO following civil unrest incident in USA.

- I took a CV-19 test (nasal swab) at medical clinic as travel condition and tested negative. On plane, I was placed in between couple who disclosed that they were from "hot-spot" region for disease. The man opted to move to middle sit and have me sit on end. They complained to flight crew that they purchased their ticket under condition that middle seat would not be filled, but a major incident did not arise. Several weeks after flight I do not show any symptoms, and I have not been in contact with anyone who has been known to contract the disease.

- My region has halted moving to less restrictive lock-down conditions over last month following increase in alleged cases. Stores had opened with social conditioning markers in place, and some restaurants and bakeries opened to in-house seating at reduced capacity. This may revert back to closed under current climate. A restaurant during my travel required sign-on with my name and telephone number for contact tracing.

I have taken a 2nd Covid-19 test and tested negative again. During the annual doctor visit, I reported a few symptoms that can overlap with CV-19. However, I tested as having no anti-bodies which apparently also means that I have not had the Coronoavirus before, but recovered from it, nor presently.

I will be screened for a medical procedure in a few weeks and required to have a CV-19 test 2-days prior to examination. This interval will be a good test of my public-exposure risk as I recently traveled to a tourist town whereby all restaurants and boutiques required face masks and hand sanitizer use upon entering. However, the town was more crowded than I anticipated and the sidewalks were often packed. Otherwise, I have been working at-home remotely and only travelling to super-market every 2-3 weeks. Since the lock-down began in my region last March, I would in a normal year have attended at 6-7 fairs or festivals by now, very large public gatherings.

Covid-19 test update:
I was tested again before I could undergo a medical procedure by the same clinic that tested me in July. The results were again negative. Yay!

The test was administered in a drive-by clinic with a self-administered long-tip nasal swab. I currently work remotely and mostly go to shopping mart bi-monthly with a face mask. However, I have also visited a hair salon recently with both stylist and me wearing a face mask during entire session.

I also have been dining at a cafe and visiting a brew-pub weekly until inside dining shut-down again with increased lockdown restrictions this month. Both of these establishments required social distancing seating.

Lastly, I visited several boutiques in 2 small towns for XMAS shopping, wearing face mask entire town. So far, no symptoms or issues.
