Personality Traits - Genetic Big Five Score from 2 DNA Apps

Post by Arcadiaville » Sun Dec 20, 2020 8:55 pm

Crazy as a loon? Always missing deadlines and procrastinating or on-time like clockwork? Easy to get along with or grumpy as Scrooge at Christmas time? Can you know your personality from your genes? :?:

I compared 2 DNA apps that measure 5 core Personality Traits. My results?
Probably should not change careers or make major lifestyle changes yet … either the SNPs / alleles do not match-up between apps (only 1 published the SNPS used) or there are more to our genes and other factors that meets the eyes so far. :?

Personally, I lean towards genetics playing a large role in personality traits but find the openness trait in particular to show a big difference between these 2 apps. Feel free to share your results and discuss.

Only 1 DNA App included the SNPs read and which alleles I matched - Sano Genetics - so a comparison at genetic level is more challenging:

My results:
Wow, I am super envious of your 100% more likely to be conscientious & 100% less likely to be neurotic! 8-) Which ethnicity can I adopt to have more of those genes? :P

Haha, unfortunately some of these results are way off - especially the neurotic score!

Sano Genetics:

Extraversion
SNP rs57590327: You have the variant GT*

The ‘T’ allele of genetic variant rs57590327 (located near gene GBE1) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an extrovert personality. You have one copy of the ‘T’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying extrovert behaviours.

SNP rs2164273: You have the variant GG*

The ‘G’ allele of genetic variant rs2164273 (located near gene MTMR9) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an extrovert personality. You have two copies of the ‘G’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying extrovert behaviours.

SNP rs1426371: You have the variant AG*

The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs1426371 (located near gene WSCD2) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an extrovert personality. You have one copy of the ‘A’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying extrovert behaviours.

Openness
SNP rs1477268: You have the variant CT
The ‘C’ allele of genetic variant rs1477268 (located near gene RASA1) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘open’ personality type. You have one copy of the ‘C’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying openness.

SNP rs644148: You have the variant GT*

The ‘T’ allele of genetic variant rs644148 (located near gene ZNF180) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘open’ personality type. You have one copy of the ‘T’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying openness.

SNP rs6610953: You have the variant G
The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs6610953 (located near gene FUNDC1) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘open’ personality type. You have one copy of the ‘G’ allele, which is not associated with displaying traits of openness.

Agreeableness
SNP rs2540226: You have the variant CC
The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs2540226 (located near gene THUMPD2) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘agreeable’ personality type. You have two copies of the ‘G’ allele, which is not associated with displaying agreeable characteristics.

SNP rs6832769: You have the variant AA
The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs6832769 (located near gene CLOCK) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘agreeable’ personality type. You have two copies of the ‘A’ allele which means you have an increased chance of displaying agreeable characteristics.

SNP rs9940706: You have the variant CC*

The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs9940706 (located near gene CDH13) is associated with an increased likelihood of having an ‘agreeable’ personality type. You have two copies of the ‘G’ allele, which is not associated with displaying agreeable characteristics.

Neuroticism
SNP rs2039528: You have the variant GG*

The ‘A’ allele of genetic variant rs2039528 (located near gene PTPRF) is associated with an increased likelihood of having a ‘neurotic’ personality type. You have two copies of the ‘G’ allele, which is not associated with displaying neurotic characteristics.

SNP rs362584: You have the variant AG

I'm a lot of things, but sane isn't one of them! :D

I will say that I was extroverted as a child and some things happened to make me introverted as a teen/adult.
