The new Harappan DNA paper
I have posted my take on the recent paper " An Ancient Harappan Genome Lacks Ancestry from Steppe Pastoralists or Iranian Farmers" at https://eurasiandna.com/an-ancient-harappan-genome-lacks-ancestry-from-steppe-pastoralists-or-iranian-farmers-a-critique/ Earlier this month the much awaited Bronze A...

Re: Striking differences in admixtures compared to GEDmatch
What I've noticed is that admixture percentages in the same calculators on GEDmatch and on yourDNAportal are very different. Something must be wrong with algorithms used by yourDNAportal. For example one user on Anthrogenica posted their K36 results from GEDmatch and from yourDNAportal. The differe...

New article regarding upcoming SAPDA ancestry software
Hi everyone, As we move closer to the SAPDA ancestry inference software becoming publicly available, I just published an article at https://eurasiandna.com/sapda-admixture-inference-updates-revisions/ highlighting some of its features and principles. An excerpt from the article: SAPDA SOFTWARE FEATU...

We don't know who this great great grandfather is. It's an NPE on his mother's paternal line originat...

Re: The African test at yourDNAportal. Post your results!
 Good point! I guess that is a tad obvious  Really, what I am trying to figure out is whether only three such alleles are significant in figuring out whether one has actual African ancestry, very old or more recent. My family are Southern colonials and have been in America since the early...

I show 2 matches. I am not aware of any African ancestry and show no current % on 23andMe or other commercial tests. However, I used to show 0.2% in at least 1 mode with 23andMe kit before one of their updates. rs1871332GG People with your genotype have two copies of this mutation that is indicativ...

Re: The African test at yourDNAportal. Post your results!
Is it common that most people (European/Middle East origins) have 1 to several of these alleles or is there a greater meaning? That's what I wondering. The rs6601548CT allele has come up a couple of times already. Maybe it's something Europeans have inherited from deeper ancestry from Africa rather...
